Technical Editing Policies

Updated January 1, 2024

Business Hours

Monday through Friday 11:00 am - 5:00 pm

(US Pacific time)

Communications

If a communication (email, Slack message, etc) is received over the weekend, holiday, or outside my business hours, I will respond the next business day.

Rate

The current hourly rate for services is $35/hour US with a one-and-a-half hour (1.5 hours) minimum. After the first 1.5 hours, time is billed in five-minute (5) increments.

Services can include virtual meetings deemed necessary to ensure your design and pattern intentions as the designer are understood for technical editing purposes.

Gamer Babe Designs is not currently accepting jobs requiring a turnaround of less than 5 business days.

Invoicing and Cancellations

You will be invoiced once you have approved the fully edited pattern for testing. Payment is due 10 days from the date of invoice.

If you cancel the editing job before completion, you agree to pay in full for my time spent on your pattern up to the time of cancellation, with a minimum of one hour.

Pre-Publishing Review

You can request a complimentary 10-minute post-testing/pre-publishing review of patterns I've edited for you. If any issues come up during this review and you'd like me to address them, this will be billed at time spent.

Portfolio and Editing Credit

On Ravelry, after your pattern has published, the Ravelry product page will be added to my editing portfolio: https://www.ravelry.com/bundles/patterns-tech-edited-by-gamer-babe-designs

I would appreciate receiving editing credit in the final, published pattern or anywhere else such as social media, but this is not a requirement, and you're not obligated to do so.

Post-Editing Feedback

You will receive a form after the pattern has been fully edited for feedback on the editing process and how I serviced you and your pattern. I would be grateful if you complete the form so I can continue to improve as an editor.

Error Policy/Guarantee

In the event that errors are discovered in your pattern with material I reviewed after your pattern has been published, please contact me immediately so I can work with you to correct them. All my work is 100% guaranteed, and I will do my best to make sure you are completely satisfied.

Non-Exclusivity

This agreement only covers edits where you send your pattern files and assets to me for technical editing and use me as the technical editor for those patterns. This agreement does not mean you are obligated or required to send every pattern you write to me for technical editing.

Liability, Warranty, and Indemnification

Gamer Babe Designs is not liable for the legality or originality of content provided by you. By submitting your pattern for technical editing, you are warranting that you are the creator and legal owner of the pattern's content. If you are submitting a pattern as a ghostwriter for technical editing, you are warranting that you have permission to engage my technical editing services for that pattern.

You will indemnify and hold harmless Gamer Babe Designs against any and all liabilities, loss, damages, or expenses (including but not limited to legal costs, disbursements, and any damages or settlement sum payable) incurred by Gamer Babe Designs in connection with any complaint, claim, litigation, or breach of copyright arising from the pattern and its contents.

Privacy Policy

I agree to protect your information, the document(s), files you provide to me and/or arising from this business engagement, and any discussions we have about your patterns from public or private sharing of any kind, including emailing or digitally sharing the document(s) and files to any party other than you, unless you otherwise direct me in writing.

Technical Editing Agreement with Gamer Babe Designs

By entering into a technical editing agreement with me as Gamer Babe Designs, you are consenting to be bound by the terms of these policies.

The above terms shall constitute the agreement between us regarding the services to be provided by me, and this agreement will be agreed to have been entered in Contra Costa County, California (the place of my business location, the place where my services are being performed for you, and the place where payment is to be made to me) and subject to the laws of the State of California.

If you are entering into this project with me as Gamer Babe Designs for work on behalf of a third party, these policies extend to the third party.

This agreement is in force for the remainder of the calendar year for any pattern edits you choose to send to me for technical editing. In subsequent years, you'll receive this form and agreement again if and when you send your first pattern to me for edit that year.
